The Book Club at St. Anne's
“A writer only begins a book. A reader finishes it.” Samuel Johnson
St. Anne’s Book Club offers the opportunity to read good books, reflect on them and then participate in an open and stimulating discussion regarding the author and his work, all while offering an opportunity for good fellowship with other readers at St.Anne’s.
The Book Club meetings are held the third Monday of the month from September through June at 7:30 p.m. at the home of one of the members of the club. Everyone in our congregation is invited to participate and may come to any meeting that is scheduled to discuss a book of interest to them. The host offers wine and cheese, coffee and sweets while greetings are exchanged and the current month’s book selection is discussed. Each member’s thoughts are encouraged and respected.
The books that are chosen for the club’s reading are decided by the members of the club. Selections are usually made by reviewing a copy of the book brought to an earlier meeting. Everyone’s suggestions are considered. All categories of books are read---current and classic fiction, as well as non-fiction.
If you have a book you have read recently or would like to read and discuss, please join the group, and remember…
“The man who doesn’t read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them” Mark Twain
